One of the smartest moves in After We Collided was casting former Disney star Dylan Sprouse as Trevor. Sprouse brings a levity and normalcy that the film desperately needs. His Trevor is handsome, funny, and genuinely interested in Tessa as a person, not a possession.
For fans of the series, this film is the bridge to the darker, more complex sequels ( After We Fell and After Ever Happy ). It takes the training wheels off the toxicity and embraces the maelstrom. Just don’t expect to come out of it believing in fairy tales. Expect to come out of it wanting to listen to sad music in the rain—which, for the target audience, is exactly the point.
