Traditionally, Game Guardian required root access to function properly on Android devices. Rooting allows users to gain superuser-level access to their device, enabling them to modify system files and settings. However, with the introduction of Android 14, Google has tightened security features, making it more challenging for apps like Game Guardian to operate with root access.
Game Guardian works by scanning and modifying the RAM of running processes. On a rooted device, the app can request superuser permissions to read and write memory addresses that belong to other apps. Without root, Android’s isolates each app’s memory space. This is a core security feature called Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) and process isolation .
