If Bandai Namco was going to invest resources in a Wii U port, they needed a product that could sell at full price ($60). Tekken 6 was already available in bargain bins on other consoles by 2012. Re-releasing it on Wii U would have been a tough sell.
The biggest criticism of Tekken 6 on PS3 and Xbox 360 was the input lag. The Wii U GamePad actually communicated wirelessly with very low latency. Many fighting game fans speculated that the Wii U version could have boasted the most responsive controls outside of the arcade.
So, if you see a used copy of Tekken 6 at a retro game store labeled for Wii U, you are holding a bootleg. But if you see Tekken Tag Tournament 2 , buy it immediately.
