Look, I won’t lie to you. Chobits has aged poorly in some regards. The frequent "accidental" groping, the shots of Chii naked (even if doll-like), and Hideki’s screaming perversion can be exhausting. It is very much a product of its era.
The story is set in an alternate version of modern-day Tokyo where personal computers have evolved into "Persocoms"—humanoid androids that look indistinguishable from humans (mostly beautiful young women). They serve as secretaries, accountants, and companions, performing tasks with a smile and unwavering loyalty. Chobits
