PC gaming thrives on community content. Imagine custom ink colors, fan-made gear, new weapon types, or even entirely new maps created by modders. An official port with Steam Workshop support would be a modder’s paradise.

Nintendo views its hardware as the canvas for its software. The company sells Splatoon not just as a game, but as a reason to buy a Switch (or the Switch’s successor). Releasing on PC would, in their eyes, cannibalize hardware sales.
