The turning point in history occurred on a rainy night in 1975. Prior to this date, the area was home to a bustling village of approximately 200 families. They were farmers, growing cloves and corn on the fertile slopes. The "blue pool" existed, but it was small—merely a well that the villagers used for washing, albeit one that was unnervingly deep.
