Citect SCADA supports two different software licensing models:
Real-time protection from McAfee, Norton, or even Windows Defender sometimes deletes the .sys file. Temporarily disable antivirus during installation.
When a Spreadtrum device is stuck in bootloop, the SCI interface outputs raw bootloader logs. Using screen or minicom at 115200 baud : spreadtrum sci usb2serial ok
Do not use Windows Update. Do not use "auto search". Download the official Spreadtrum SCI driver package. Look for version 2.0.0.0 or higher (as of 2025, v4.x exists). Real-time protection from McAfee, Norton, or even Windows
echo "1782 4d00" | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/option1/new_id Real-time protection from McAfee
The FLEXERA softkey solution stores license information on a FlexNet Enterprise License Server. The Citect SCADA client process will retrieve licenses from this server as required by the Citect SCADA system. To activate and administer licenses, you use the Floating License Manager (see Activate Licenses Using the Floating License Manager).
In both cases, Citect SCADA uses a Dynamic Point Count to determine if your system is operating within the limitations of your license agreement. This process tallies the number of I/O device addresses being used by the runtime system.
A point limit is allocated to each type of license included in your license agreement. These license types include:
A special OPC Server License is also available if you want to run a computer as a dedicated OPC server. For more information, contact Technical Support.
If required, you can specify how many points will be required by a particular computer (see Specify the Required Point Count for a Computer).
Note:
• There is no distinction between a Control Client and an Internet Control Client.
• There is no distinction between a View-Only Client and an Internet View-Only Client.
