Tor’i, Nnenna, and Shanley created a logjam of indecision. Tor’i claimed he wanted a "real connection" with Nnenna, but every time Shanley walked into the room, his eyes glazed over. The breaking point came when Nnenna overheard Tor’i telling Shanley, “You’ll always be my what-if.” Nnenna packed her bags, only to be stopped by producers (they can’t actually leave the island due to contracts).

There is a difference between reality TV drama and genuine animosity. Season 1 cast members usually hugged it out at the reunion. At the Season 2 reunion (hosted by a very uncomfortable Romeo Miller), two exes had to be separated by security, and one cast member refused to sit on the same couch as another for the entire two-hour special.
