The proposed first film: a documentary about the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, focusing on Tahrir Square’s street artists. It had history, protest, aesthetics, and global appeal. It was, in Netflix’s eyes, the perfect Oscar-bait vehicle for a "serious" Arab auteur.

However, the journey to the Netflix library is rarely straightforward. Licensing agreements for Iranian films are notoriously complex due to geopolitical sanctions and distribution hurdles. Sometimes the film might be available in specific regions (such as the Middle East or Europe) but not in the United States.
