El Pequeno Vampiro Jun 2026

The first novel introduces Anton sitting in his room at night, reading a book about vampires. To his astonishment, a real vampire—Rüdiger—floats through his window. Rüdiger is not a fearsome count; he is a disorganized, slightly scruffy boy who hates his vampire chores and loves sneaking into the human world for junk food.

Sommer-Bodenburg, a former primary school teacher, wrote the first chapter as an experiment to see what kind of stories would captivate her students. She explicitly aimed to counter traditional stereotypes of violent vampires, instead presenting "affectionate" characters with their own fears and foibles. This approach pioneered the "friendly vampire" trope in children's media decades before it became a mainstream staple. The Core Story and Characters El Pequeno Vampiro
