The GL553V has a known vulnerability: the charging MOSFETs (Q8801 and Q8802) between the DC jack and the battery MOSFET short out over time. Locate the BQ24780S application circuit. Identify the ACDRV pin (pin 4) which drives the gate of the ACFET (Adapter Charge FET). Replace the MOSFETs and verify the gate voltage is 25V when the adapter is plugged in. Asus Gl553v Schematic
