The Mushroom Kingdom was in the grip of a neon-colored plague. It wasn't the usual "Peach is in another castle" crisis; it was the "Grumble Gills," a nasty flu that turned everyone’s skin a sickly shade of pixelated blue.
He woke up in a teenager’s bedroom.
In the standard "Normal" mode, vitamin capsules fall into a bottle populated by viruses of three colors: Red, Blue, and Yellow. The player must rotate and position these capsules to create lines of four or more matching colors. When a match is made, the viruses and capsule segments disappear. The goal is to clear the bottle of all viruses.
She held up her phone. “In my body, right now? It’s level 9-6 on Extra Strength. No continues left.”
And Maya played along. She’d lie in bed with her eyes half-closed, swiping her phone, matching his moves. He’d shout: “Blue virus on B-4! Throw a cyan capsule left!” She’d obey. Together, they cleared levels that had no right to exist.
