The brewery has recently announced a collaboration with the famous Niigata sake brewery, Imayo Tsukasabotan , to create a "Cask-Aged Rice Lambic." They are also building a second, smaller taproom inside the historic Sawanoi Sake district in Ome.

In 2013, the current brewmaster decided to take a radical risk. Instead of closing the doors, they pivoted from rice wine to rice beer. They founded (often stylized as "Mei Brewery" or "Mei Beer"), becoming one of the first sake breweries in Japan to convert entirely to craft beer. Mei Itsukaichi
