The film serves as a deconstruction of Batman himself. For years, Bruce Wayne used the mantle of the Bat to channel his grief over being a son who lost his parents. In Son of Batman , he is forced to evolve into the parent he lost. He has to prove that his way—justice without execution—is more powerful than the blood-soaked efficiency of the League.
